Day Ten

Tired, headaches, mild mood swings. Skin even more dry than before.

Days five through nine

I was away so I couldn’t update per day, but I’m back now :-)

Very dry skin. Flaking all over my nose, and has now started to flake on the rest of my face. Lips even drier than before. Got a couple of new spots on my chin, so this is probably the initial breakout. Rib/chest pains whenever I lift things, laugh a lot, etc, too.

Also,

though I should probably say I’m on 80mg a day.

Day Four

Dry skin around my nose. Also my concentration is shaking a little. I can’t focus on something for more than a few moments, grr.

Day Three

My skin isn’t as greasy. I had a lie in this morning and usually my face would be, well, gross and yuck but today it wasn’t.

Also I can tell it’s more fragile already because I was holding my mug of tea to my face (a habit I usually have) and my face is full on burnt a little where it was. Oops.

Day Two

No noticeable changes, obviously.

My lips feel dry, but I don’t know if that’s me just fixating on them because I know they’re going to start getting pretty bad soon or just the cold weather.

Also, all my acne has been really itchy today.

Day One

No noticeable changes, aha obviously.

Acne and accutane

I’ve just taken my first dose of Roaccutane. I’ve had severe cystic acne that’s been problematic since the age of about nine, and I’ve been on around five various treatments (both topical and anti-biotic) but nothing has worked so far. So last year I was put on the NHS waiting list at my local hospital, and only a couple of weeks ago I had the appointment with the dermatologist.

I went through the works, and he prescribed Roaccutane (which was why I was there in the first place). I should imagine that there are three different stances on accutane. You probably either think it’s a miracle drug, think it’s dangerous as fuck, or don’t know what it is. (Also sidenote, but I’m saying this right now, DO NOT SEND ME ADVICE TELLING ME NOT TO TAKE RO BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT MY DERMATOLOGIST OR GP AND I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR IT UNLESS YOU YOURSELF HAVE TAKEN IT. I HAVE SEVERE ANXIETY AND DO NOT APPRECIATE IT. Thanks <3)

I’m going to post (hopefully, depending on if I remember/have access to a computer) a daily update on how it is working, and if I get any side effects. Considering my mental health history, here’s hoping I don’t get the mental health related side effects.

I just thought it would be a good idea to keep track, and in case anyone following was thinking of taking it for their acne.

It will be text posts only (no photos), but if you don’t want to see those, I will be tagging the posts with #daisy on ro, #roaccutane, and #accutane.

Fingers crossed I have an easy ride with it. <3
