Acne and accutane

I’ve just taken my first dose of Roaccutane. I’ve had severe cystic acne that’s been problematic since the age of about nine, and I’ve been on around five various treatments (both topical and anti-biotic) but nothing has worked so far. So last year I was put on the NHS waiting list at my local hospital, and only a couple of weeks ago I had the appointment with the dermatologist.

I went through the works, and he prescribed Roaccutane (which was why I was there in the first place). I should imagine that there are three different stances on accutane. You probably either think it’s a miracle drug, think it’s dangerous as fuck, or don’t know what it is. (Also sidenote, but I’m saying this right now, DO NOT SEND ME ADVICE TELLING ME NOT TO TAKE RO BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT MY DERMATOLOGIST OR GP AND I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR IT UNLESS YOU YOURSELF HAVE TAKEN IT. I HAVE SEVERE ANXIETY AND DO NOT APPRECIATE IT. Thanks <3)

I’m going to post (hopefully, depending on if I remember/have access to a computer) a daily update on how it is working, and if I get any side effects. Considering my mental health history, here’s hoping I don’t get the mental health related side effects.

I just thought it would be a good idea to keep track, and in case anyone following was thinking of taking it for their acne.

It will be text posts only (no photos), but if you don’t want to see those, I will be tagging the posts with #daisy on ro, #roaccutane, and #accutane.

Fingers crossed I have an easy ride with it. <3
