Know why I hate white people with dreads?
Because, white people shit on natural black hair all the time. They call my hair uncivilized, dirty, unkempt, a mess, “crazy!!!”, unprofessional, and nasty. We are told that we should perm it, straighten it, or get weave to be seen as good or respectable. We need to change ourselves so we can get jobs. I wish I white girl would get fired for having her natural hair out at the office. We have. There are white girls int he afro tag calling their bed heads afros. Why is my regular, normal hair being compared to your hair in an unkempt state? That’s like me saying “Why my clothes look just like yours!” when my clothes dirty, stained, and wrinkled and you actually got up and put on something fresh and clean for the morning.
White people get dreads because it’s deep, “spiritual”, or cool. I get dreads because my hair out is threatening. You guys can cut it off and bomb! You are no longer have all that nappy hair, you are “back to normal”. My hair is, will, and has been seen as inferior for forever. You are just making a mockery of it by getting dreads(I also have santiary problems with it because, even though I know it’s a way to do it cleanly, most don’t do it.) My hair isn’t something for you to co-opped on because you think Bob Marley was tops. My hair is a struggle, my hair is my identity. Thanks for making a laugh about it. I’m sure your parents were really pissed.
I’m white myself but I feel it’s important to post this, especially here. I’ve got questions in the past asking me why white people having dreads is racist, and here’s your answer.
