Just a reminder that misdirected slurs do not mean you have experiences that particular brand of bigotry.

For example! If someone yelled the N-word at you at a bus stop and you’re a white woman, you did not experience racism, you experienced a confused asshole.

If someone called you F**** at school because you’re a dude who wore eyeliner but you’re straight, you did not experience heterosexism, you experienced a ‘carpet bomber’ bigot*.

If someone called you t***** because you wore a dress but you’re a cis person, or called you it because you’re a trans dude and they couldn’t think of any good slurs for trans men, you have not experienced transmisogyny, you’ve experienced an inaccurate transmisogynist.

(*carpet bomber bigots are the kinds of bigots who hurl a particular slur at anyone they think could be a member of the group they hate, so as not to miss out on hurting anyone)
